Marin VOAD partners meet every other month to discuss disaster preparedness, learn about disaster response, or debrief about recent disasters. Meetings cover topics like financial reimbursement or building Continuity Of Operations Plans (COOPs), wildfire response planning, disaster communications, helping underserved communities prepare for disasters and much more. Marin VOAD will also hold frequent drills and exercises to test emergency management plans, communications, and collaboration. During disasters we will hold daily conference or video calls as needed.
We also convene an annual conference or workshop when possible. Our last conference was in 2019 on Building the Framework of Disaster Response and we held the first ever Countywide Tabletop Exercise to build coordination in disaster response and recovery with 26 nonprofit partners and local and County government agencies in June, 2024.
